Green Mamba and Black Mamba starring Ben Voss and John van de Ruit, is hilarious sketch based comedy about our country.

This time they’re back with their third production in the Mamba comedy trilogy: Mamba Republic that comes to Durban’s Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 16 May until 4 June.

“It is good to be back on stage with Johnny bringing our third Mamba show to life. Scripting it has been such a fun journey already, and we can’t wait to share it with the rest of the country!” an enthusiastic Voss stated.

Mamba Republic is a rapid-paced satirical sketch-comedy soon to hit theatres countrywide. Reuniting the talents of Ben Voss (Beauty Ramapelepele) and John van de Ruit (Spud), Mamba Republic takes a savagely funny look at all that is wrong and very wrong in the Rainbow Nation.

Mamba Republic follows in the footsteps of Green Mamba (2002) and Black Mamba (2005) which together racked up over 800 performances in five years, winning numerous awards and developing a cult following all over Southern Africa.

The shows have enjoyed sellout houses and critical acclaim from all of South Africa’s major theatrical centres, including Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, East London and Pietermaritzberg. They have played in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Described by the Daily News as, “Delightful and Hilarious” Mamba is venomous satirical sketch comedy, taking a hilarious look at the trials and tribulations of life in South Africa.

All in all Mamba – directors cut consists of some of the finest sketches written for the South African stage. In a country where sanity is a daily challenge, there is much for satirical sketch comedy to feast on! And the venomous wit of Mamba does just that. From car guards to crooked politicians, no-one gets under our radar!

MAMBA REPUBLIC

They’re back, and bookings have just opened for the hottest show in town, delighting audiences with their third production in the Mamba comedy trilogy: Mamba Republic that comes to Durban’s Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 16 May until 4 June.

With their unique blend of sharp wit, hopeless optimism and clever characterisation, the duo sinks their fangs into the fiascos, farces and foibles of South African life. Whether it is their unique take on fees must fall, state capture, online dating, the economy, sport, technology, racism, an alternative national anthem, or even the most unusual football match in living memory, Mamba Republic will have you rolling in the aisles at the utter absurdity of life at the foot of Africa.

Internationally acclaimed author, van de Ruit said, “Fellow Saffas, you are in for a treat! It has been said before that we, as South Africans, are really good at laughing at the state of our nation. We will be reminding audiences how much there is to laugh at .... and adding a bit of a mamba twist.”

BEAUTY AND THE BEE

In Beauty and the B.E.E well known South African director Janice Honeyman teams up with comic star Ben Voss (Green Mamba, Black Mamba) to bring you Ben's alter ego, Beauty Ramapelepele, a 49 year-old nouveau-riche Houghton mother of two, which will be embarking on a nation-wide tour starting in Durban on 31 March. Beauty Ramapalapele is the perfect South African weapon. A black, bright, beautiful, bitchy woman at the top of her business and social game. With a nose for gossip and the inside line on everything from stripes to checks and BEE to the presidential race, Beauty Ramapelepele gives us a "fly on the wall" view of South Africa's new black elite. Hers is a rags to riches story of our relatively tender democracy built on her simple and effective business philosophy. "Invest in Africa...buy a politician!"
