Profile:
As one of South Africa’s most prolific comedians, John Vlismas is well-known for his versatility and punishing schedule. Whether he’s writing material in a hotel suite with Jerry Springer, representing his country on stage in a Canadian festival with Drew Carrey following him, hosting a prime-time talk show or entertaining business leaders at their function, he’ll deliver the goods in his signature high-octane style.

Vlismas is a favourite amongst South Africans living abroad and regularly travels to London to cheer up the masses of us over there. He’s featured at the Berlin festival, garnered favourable reviews in Melbourne, and still tours with the largest comedy productions in South Africa; the Kingsize Comedy Jams. He has also been very involved with South African Tourism’s campaign in Australia, including a gala performance at the Sydney Opera House.

*LATEST PRESENTATION* The SharedWorld™

John Vlismas understands people. In fact, they’re his favourite animals. He’s spent fifteen years talking to hundreds of thousands of them all over the world. While most people assume that everybody is different, he believes we’re a lot more alike than we think. John calls his idea “The SharedWorld™”. Allow him to spend time with your group and give them tools to listen, to speak and to share. The SharedWorld™ is a powerful, practical and simple method that allows people to read people, distil what they glean, process it and apply it to more meaningful interaction. This system is not theoretical; it is demonstrated as it is explained, using easy and entertaining exercises. John does all the SharedWorld work personally. He doesn’t use power point or flowcharts. All you need to bring is a pen and paper, and a willingness to accept that the key to other people is you. You don’t have to be a genius or particularly good looking. All you need is to have woken up this morning to qualify. He will give you tools to listen and empathise more effectively; it will show you how to put yourself in other people’s shoes, how to watch people and how to “work a room”.
The 5 principles covered in The SharedWorld™ include:
Reverence & Disrespect Read & Distil Register & Detach Reframe & Decide Rigour & Dynamism.

Firstly, John works with the group to establish a Brave New Space. This is a safe, open and creative environment in which each individual is comfortable to participate. Each principle is introduced, explained and demonstrated and then it is applied to the specific team and their path forward.
