Captain Londy Ngcobo

Guest Speaker and Keynote Presenter Londy Ngcobo is a former Ship Navigator and Africa’s First Female Dredge Master. She is also a Business Leader and Ocean Economy Specialist. With many years of experience in the Maritime industry, her background includes Maritime Studies, International Merchant shipping experience, Advanced dredging from the Netherlands IHC, an industry-shaking role as a former Executive Maritime Compliance Manager for Transnet National Ports Authority, and Chief Executive of Womaritime Experts and Founder of Global MaritimeYouth; all of which continues to echo her well-known title “The BLACK MERMAID”

This multi-award-winning Woman has served on various boards in the transport sector and influential organizations within leadership, women and youth spheres ensuring continuous development of Africa’s transport professions through advocacy, training and awareness, as well as strengthening the competitiveness and employment creating potential for Africans.

Ten years ago, at a pivotal moment in her journey, Londy stood at the intersection of despair and destiny, feeling the weight of the world’s expectations as headlines went viral: “Meet Africa’s first Female Dredge Master”. Faced with the pressure to have life neatly figured out, she found herself swallowed in the noise, struggling to discover her true identity under the public spotlight and numerous recognitions.

In her own words, “… let me tell you something, you can never outrun your true calling. It relentlessly pursues you and it always wins. So instead, I leaned into my passions: storytelling, art, and empowering others.”

In that shift, Londy discovered liberation to chart a course away from her career as an Unlimited Ship Navigator of over 50,000 Gross Tonnage vessels and emerge as a now globally recognized speaker, conscious business leader, and present mentor. She found joy, she found herself, and she learned that purpose really does pay well.

Today, she is passionate about and committed to helping others Captain Their Destinies.
