Phindile was a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow under the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), founded in 2014 by former United States President Barack Obama. As part of the programme, she spent time at Clark Atlanta University in the USA, where she further developed her skills in business entrepreneurship.

A significant part of Phindile’s work focuses on practical empowerment. She has run learnership programmes in pharmacy assistance, clothing, and textile manufacturing, successfully empowering more than 400 women and young people who qualified in their respective fields. Sixty percent of these participants were subsequently placed in employment across various healthcare facilities in South Africa.
As a philanthropist, Phindile established the Phindile Yende Foundation, through which she supports initiatives focused on women, girls, dignity, and opportunity. Her work has included providing sanitary dignity support to girls across South Africa and Malawi, as well as investing in an initiative in Malawi that provided sewing machines to young women to enable them to manufacture reusable sanitary towels and create sustainable opportunities for themselves.
Phindile is passionate about advancing women and youth through upskilling, motivation, and mentorship. Her work encourages individuals to aspire to greatness in their chosen career paths and contribute positively to the socio-economic development of Africa.
