Profile:
Stand up comedian Al Prodgers - The laughs spring from his passion for South Africa and its people. In 2002, Al hosted the comedy festival, "Stand Up South Africa" in London and won excellent reviews for his hilarious explanation of his homeland to intrigued international spectators and homesick expatriates alike.
Al has become a regular at the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival and has had successful solo shows at the Grahamstown Festival. Television appearances include Comedy Showcase and The Barry Hilton Show as well as an ongoing comic character on Africa's most watched soapie, Generations.
Al is a popular feature on the comedy club circuit all over South Africa and as far afield as Windhoek, Namibia. When legendary US comedian, Steven Wright toured in 1999, Al Prodgers was the obvious choice to support him, performing to 2000 people in Cape Town. Provocative and challenging, he'll always be a hit with those who want to see a razor-sharp mind working in overdrive. Al has recently performed at a function for Proudly South Africa and appeared on SABC 3’s popular 3 Talk for their Proudly SA Week show. Al is now officially a “Proudly SA” member, the first South African comedian to have been branded with this prestigious logo!
