Guest Speaker Motshidisi Mohono is an award-winning Sport Broadcaster – currently playing her trade at SuperSport International. The 2018 SA Sport Awards Journalist of the Year’s stellar work includes anchoring the 2021 British and Irish Lions Tour to South Africa, being part of SuperSport’s production team for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, hosting the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final, England’s 2018 tour to South Africa, as well as anchoring Test matches, United Rugby Championship, the Heineken
Cup and Challenge Cup matches.
Motshidisi joined SuperSport in 2011, after coming third in the Lady Rugga presenter search. Her first assignment was as co-anchor on “SuperSport Superfan” – a social media show during the 2011 Rugby World Cup. She then joined the SuperSport Blitz team in early 2012, working as a journalist on the 24-hour sports news channel. In 2013, Motshidisi wasroped into SuperSport’s Varsity Rugby production team, and has since then, formed an integral part in the growth of the Varsity Sport brand. As part of this brand, she has covered various sporting codes, including Volleyball, 7’s Rugby, Football, Hockey and Netball.
In 2015, Motshidisi’s work ethic and passion garnered her the opportunity to cover the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards in Shanghai, China, where she covered the pre-award activities and awards’ red carpet for the channel. Thereafter, covered the festivities in Berlin in 2016. Motshidisi has made her mark in the Netball arena, as well, having presented the Tri-Nations in 2013, when the SPAR Proteas defeated England to clinch the title. From 2014-2016, she covered the Brutal Fruit Netball Premier League and Varsity Netball.
In 2016, she was nominated by her peers, for a GSport4Girls Award in the category “Women in Media: TV” (her second nomination in the category) and subsequently walked away with the award. Motshidisi has previously co-anchored the Xhosa rugby show PHAKA (Tuesdays at 7pm) on SuperSport, and has anchored major rugby tournaments, including Super Rugby (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), Currie Cup (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), the British and Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand (2017), and the Springbok end-of-year-tour in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.
In 2019, Motshidisi was included in the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans in the Sports category. Mohono went on to host the Rugby World Cup Final in the same year.
She also won the Women In Television award at the 2020 Momentum GSport4Girls Awards. Motshidisi is a dynamic, , who maintains a high standard of excellence.
